This video presents Marc Jacobs’s and Louis Vuitton company’s vision on what Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2010 AD campaign is. What emotions and attitude to things lies in there, what Marc wanted this whole imagine to be.
The thing is that I don’t know so many people who were impressed by this supposedly glamorous campaign. Many people really think that grass and doves remind of garbage and the the whole view is a bit dirty, so it doesn’t actually say about fresh, young things right a way. I like Lara Stone though, she is stunning and she by herself in front of the white wall would sell clothes, so who cares about the place where she lies.
The campaign may be not so fabulous as Louis Vuitton company together with Steven Meisel think, but it takes a lot to make such a campaign. I do realize that a huge job has been done by many professionals to create those images. I do respect Path and Marc and Steven because these guys really stand out from the fashion crowd. But as much as I do respect them I do want to see something amazing from LV, especially when I think about their Core Values campaigns.
Alice in Wonderland is one of the top fairy-tales themes often used by fashion photographers. This time I ran into Frauke Fischer “Alice im Wunder-Land” shoot for Diva magazine.
It’s bright and vivid but honestly it seems that photographer doesn’t realize the whole idea replacing magic miracles with huge trains and that’s it.
Maybe I sound a bit sceptical, but anyone who saw Annie Leibovitz shoot “Alice in Wonderland” for Vogue in 2003 will totally agree with me. No offence to Ida and she’s obviously not blamed for anything, but Natalia Vodianova in Alice shoot looks more like Alice than Ida does.
The fact of famous designers playing other Lewis Caroll characters (Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor&Rolf, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Olivier Theyskens, Marc Jacobs, Christian Lacroix, Donatella Versace, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Helmut Lang, Stephen Jones, Tom Ford) in Leibovitz shoot makes some benefit although the main point is to create an atmosphere which Leibovitz is unarguable master making of (refering to Louis Vuitton AD camapign, etc.).
The Wonderland atmosphere is so special for millions of girls who are already grown-ups and read fashion magazines that photographers and editors often take it to their editorials, but obviously as we become grown-ups most of us don’t catch the idea of magic anymore and Wonderland creation is possible for most creative of us.
It’s interesting how some little things, used to be sporty and suitable to wear on casual Sundays only, have now become a part of our fashion wardrobes. I’m speaking about T-shirts and tanks. These two clothes types have become even more important than blouses and even dresses because we’re not afraid to wear a long t-shirt or a tank with naked legs instead of dress. Unbelievable but we spent a fortune on T-shirts these days, I’m afraid to tell myslef how much have I spent already on them, because as many other girls I’m totally obsessed.
You can find casual t-shirts with funny pictures on them or some fancy silk t-shirts covered with crystalls and little accessories that can make your look.
We’re not even feel shame when we do wear t-shirts with famous people pictures on them, because it doesn’t seem as idealizing those people anymore, it just means that those people are fashionabe enough to be on our t-shirts.
One of modern famous designers once said that t-shirt will make any style, you just have to put on t-shirt wich is right for you. How will you find out whether t-shirt is right? Oh, that’s very simple, my dear, you have to want it immediately and your eyes have to sparkle. Nor that there are no people like me whose eyes are sparkling from almost every second t-shirt they see in a boutique…
Well, let’s put such little personal lack aside and think about t-shirt as about strong part of your day-t0-day, evening or holiday look, because t-shirt is really that functional. You don’t have to have lots of them as some people do, but you certainly have to buy one which will make a statement about you.
Your perfect t-shirt or tank is waiting for you, just don’t be too fast with your choice.
Louis Vuitton cases can be considered as something useless by the mass audience, while in fact they are real masterpieces of crafsmenship and creativity.
This time the house of Louis Vuitton asked six personalities: the designer Marc Jacobs, the photographer Annie Leibovitz, the chef du El Bulli restaurant Ferran Adrià, the artist Damien Hirst, the musician and composer Gustavo Santaolalla, and Patrick-Louis Vuitton, the head of Louis Vuitton’s Special Orders department, to design the piece that embodies their savoir-faire.
The collection is created for 150 anniversary of the company’s unique combination of tradition and innovation. Louis Vuitton will celebrate “l’Excellence du Savoir-Faire”, by partnering with some of today’s iconic figures who themselves possess a rare expertise. This collection is demonstration not only of talent and creativity but also of production secrets that for many years have been Louis Vuitton’s distinctive feature.
All cases and bags in the collection are created by Patrick-Louis Vuitton and six legendary creators.
You’ll be able to have your own “Annie Leibovitz” bga or “Marc Jacobs” case through the department of Special Orders at the house of Louis Vuitton. It can be alligator skin bag or classy canvas one. The “Damian Hirst” case will be on permanent display in Louis Vuitton boutique in London which opens in 2010.
Usually I’m not critisizing Marc Jacobs and his collections for Louis Vuitton and his own brand. Strange, but being great about Marc Jacobs collection I’m awfully surprised by Louis Vuitton collection. Whatever the idea is, but those shoes look not Louis Vuitton at all, actually, my granny had one of such a kind when I was little.
Bags are great! Truthfully, it is the only element of spring-summer 2010 Louis Vuitton collection to be impressed by.
Maybe Bernard Arnault has influenced marc in a way to create things for popular markets such as Japan. But what about others who is not that into pink and screemin green colours?!
Recently I’ve written about Marc Jacobs Spring-Summer 2010 collection which is still shocking for me. I love to be impressed and Marc impresses every new season. His Spring-Summer 2010 collection is fabulous, can’t wait next season to get that dark-blue little jacket and shorts and many other things.
Have you seen the whole celebs list this show?! Madonna and Lady GaGa are quite enough to make the show top of the Fashion Week, though Marc’s show is always at the top.
Take a look at the video from Marc Jacobs show.
The most interesting thing is to listen what Mark says about his collection, his own view together with the comments of fashion editors and critics. You can also get to backstage and see how preparations to the most exisiting show of New York Fashion Week goes.
As many people as many opinions. Some think she is a frick and others think she is a style phenomena in modern pop-culture. No use to argue about any of the opinions. The only thing is to argue that Lady GaGa certainly can sing as other people thought she couldn’t.
At the party held by Marc Jacobs and V Magazine at NY Fashion Week Lady GaGa sang acoustic versions of her popular hits. It was brilliant and such a wonderful underskin feeling of her voice. Mario Testino, Alexander Wang, Lily Donaldson, Janet Jackson and others came to enjoy Lady GaGa’s singing.
When I saw Spring 2010 collection by Marc Jacobs, I realized he is a storyteller. Silk dresses with lots of flounces, little shorts with matching jackets, amazing flats and accessorie-decorated bags.
Marc Jacobs created the unique formula of his collections which allows everyone to see different things – geisha, dancer, Comme des Garcons girls, american innovative look.
Innovation is not hat Marc has to look for. Still it seems that he didn’t want the collection be that much american.Though it will find its place in american women wardobes, but it will be the whole new language for the clothes.
Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 collection is the other evidence that Marc is revolutionary. Certainly we’ll see some simile in his collection for Louis Vuitton, but it will be more chic. So it will be the other story.
We all are brought up on stories and fairytales and sometimes we want a fairytale to become our life. Marc Jacobs makes our life a fairytale and you can always change the plot.
