One walking be the Printemps department store in Paris will be admired by Chanel dolls installed at the displays. Lovely dolls were inspired by Chanel Paris-Moscou collection and really represent the russian spirit.
Princess Nadejda and Grand Duke Dimitri Pavlovich – the two marionettes are wearing miniature pieces frm Paris-Moscou collection.
The installation is continued by hand-painted matryoshka dolls, 5 meters tall each.
To see matryoshkas by Chanel is a very exclusive opportunity and it happends once in a lifetime. I like them so much!
Scandinavian artists have always had a special view which defined them as totally different from anyone else in art and fashion world. Being totally different they put their accents on some other things that are not always mentioned by other European designers. This time I got impressed with designs of Swedish designer and artist Emma Lundgren whose works show a new angle on theme of folklore.
As Emma says she has created a hand-crafted folklore collection for the future, by combining time-honoured Swedish tradition, with contemporary East London flavour. You can clearly see Lego motifs as one of major swedish inventions of all times. Emma redesigns them by mixing old wall hangings and tablecloths with shiny plastic materials, strong colours and oversized accessories, so the feeling of past and future works together. She calls it a new generation fashion puzzle. I suppose it really is.
I had no opportunity to touch those creations but I think that if they are comfortable and soft I’d like to own of those. Way to colour! And nobody is bored with 21st century fashion.
One of my favorite magazines about fashion , art, photography and modern world of beautiful things is W. Why is that? First of all there are not so many magazines that can show us good photos made by the most brilliant photographers of our time together with professionally texts full of not only interesting information but that have their sense of a writing style. Second, whoever will say that it’s not true will be a real full, W magazine does influence modern trends and tendencies not only in fashion, but in art as well.
As I’m speaking about art in terms of W magazine, you can probably guess that the biggest issue not only for me but for many people reading W is W Art Issue which is a big deal. Every time the Art Issue stands for something and something always has to be an oustanding.
So, the new W Art Issue is not an exclusion. The idea developed by Maurizio Cattelan shows our reality from religious and public sides. The emotional part of photos turns any conduct to a rational sense away. It’s not only because of amazing Linda Evangelista, but because of serious theme put in unusual context.
The video below provides the information aboy the new Art Issue and shows the process of the shooting.
“Chanel’s Russian Connection” is a new book by Karl Lagerfeld that will be released on November, 30 2009. Even though there is Chanel name in the book title it definately shows Lagerfeld’s connection to Russia or his passion to Russia, I would say.
The album shows the process of Paris-Moscou collection creation by Metiers d’Arts – 7 ateliers that were recreated in 2002 on Lagerfeld’s initiative. These ateliers are the best in costume jewellery, millinery, shoes creating and embroidery, which they provide all couture houses with. Karl Lagerfeld’s Paris-Moscou collection for Chanel shows Karl’s view on Russia with all its Imperial period and Constructivism, Catherine The Great and Faberge, folklore and Coco Chanel’s love to Russia with the Ballets Russes and her relationship with Grand Duke Dmitry Pavlovich.
Karl Lagerfeld once said that he could show lots of his imagination because he had never been to Russi before. As French would say “Karl est tres modeste”, because who is not the one who has lack of imagination. Paris-Moscou collection proves that Karl is all about fantasy and fairy-tale. “Chanel’s Russian Connection” will show on photos the whole process of collection creation, even the fitting in Chanel’s apartment on rue Cambon. It’s interesting to mention that all models were russian. Karl is right once again – nobody can show russian beauty better than russin girls can do it.
The book will be released together with “Coco 1913 – Chanel 1923″ onDVD.
To support the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo (Italy) Coca-Cola is collaborating with 8 italian fashion designers – Donatella Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Anna Molinari for Blumarine, Veronica Etro, Silvia Venturini for Fendi, Consuelo Castiglioni for Marni, Angela Missoni and Rossella Jardini for Moschino. Everyone of these great women has created a fabulous bottle design for Coca-Cola light.
You can easily fint out which one is Versace, Fendi, Etro, etc. Designers took famous motives of their brands to make a beautiful bottle.
Coca-Cola is always trying to make something special for holidays and different special events such as sport world cups, but such a collaboration as it takes part is more exiting for me. I remeber last year when Roberto Cavalli designed the bottle for Diet Coke in Italy and then Ashley Isham made the design for Coca-Cola light cans in Singapore, and Patricia Field with her City collection of Coco-Cola Diet bottles. It was fun.
Before I was not sure that it is an actual art, but now I know that it is an actual contemporary art. So now I’m going to collect these bottles.
Look, blooming Blumarine design and famous Versace jellyfish-symbol or ETRO ornament and Alberta Ferreti caramel wavy style.
In fact Coca-Cola will earn a lot of money from selling designer bottles, hopefully it will reach its aim. While I’m hoping we can buy these bottles in other countries. Unfortunately, there will be only few shops chosen to sell them worldwide.
Oh, yes! You see Anna Wintour – the most important women at the empire of Vogue – and Sonia Rykiel – the designer. The caricature is made by scandinavian artist Lina Ekstrand. The form of art inspired by fashion, but whether Anna and Sonia would see it fashionable enough, Vogue-fashionable? Or will they just laugh about it?
It’s great to be an icon but not that great to be an icon to pose for a caricature…
Another surreal cartoon about girl in dream world of Louis Vuitton is released this year. Looks like someone’s love for Louis Vuitton has no any borders Definitely LV – Takashi Murakami relations are special.
In September we’ll be pleased (I mean those whom LV bags and luggage have influenced to be LV-victim) by the book “Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion And Architecture” by Takashi Murakami.
Despite Murakami’s “multicolor” role (the collection of bags and accessories with milticolor monogram firts appeared in 2003) in creating image of Louis Vuitton, I prefer to be old-fashiond wearing accessories with classical monogram.
This amazing building is the result of Murakami’s influence. Lighting, amazing, but not usual Louis Vuitton building, that will always remind me of Asia
